Press Release- Dr D publishes "Unusual Labial Rejuvenation" in Journal Of Sexual Medicine

Here's a press release on my latest medical journal publication for those interested.

--

Recent concern in the medical community has been focused upon discretionary surgery of the female genitalia. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in September of last year cautioned its members to be wary of procedures promoted as “designer vaginoplasty,” “revirgination,” and “G-spot amplification.” Dr John Di Saia, a board certified plastic surgeon in Orange County California, presents a case demonstrating his technique of safe cosmetic labiaplasty to demonstrate that within limitations these operations can be safely offered to appropriate patients with pleasing results.

Orange County, Ca -- The world of Cosmetic surgery has seemingly become a carnival arena spiced with Internet cliques and sensationalistic television shows. Surgery has become a commodity of sorts and in the hyperbole that has been born the medical community has started to interject itself.

In September of 2007, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists warned its members to be wary of vaginal surgical procedures offered by practitioners claiming to enhance appearance or sexual gratification. The piece advised that member physicians advise their patients to consider these operations of unproven effectiveness with potentially serious complications.

“Over the seven years that I have been offering reduction labiaplasty, the experience has been pretty good,” Dr John Di Saia explains. “The key in safely offering surgery in this area is to focus upon external structures and apply proper technique. The operation described in the recent publication was fairly extensive so it was performed in two parts. Staging surgery in this manner is designed to limit complications.” Long-term problems in the doctor’s cases have been virtually non-existent as he has improved his operation over the past few years. He understands the concerns of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, but would emphasize that reduction labiaplasty performed by an experienced surgeon on the external genitalia alone is safe and effective.

“I do not present these operations to the patient as the cure for an ailing sex life, but my patients have of course been concerned with appearance. Why else would they seek the services of a plastic surgeon?” the doctor adds. Patients presenting for labiaplasty have predominantly sought reduction of their external inner “lips” for reasons including discomfort in tight clothing, embarrassment and cosmetic displeasure. The doctor performs these operations under anesthesia at an accredited surgical facility.

Woman did not Murder Husband for Breast Implants

AOL

Cynthia Sommer, 34, said she barely slept herself on her first night of freedom after a San Diego Superior Court judge Thursday dismissed charges that she poisoned her husband in 2002.

Where did the Arsenic go? That's what prosecutors said was in the tissue that had been tested previously. After her husband's death she got breast implants and started living the "high life" according to the prosecution.

Divorce Games - YouTube Video

I saw this YouTube video by a woman in the midst of a divorce in which she tries to trash her husband and his family. It looks to me like she is trying to defeat a prenuptial agreement. Maybe she shouldn't have signed it. Divorce makes people ugly.

Simon Cowell ad for Placental Face Mask

Hollywood Rag Ad

Simon Cowell of American Idol fame does an advertisement for some placental protein mask. The ad calls it a "facelift." I wouldn't. He probably does some peels and he's only 48. It's not like most men benefit by facelift at 48.

A Blogger Comment & the Practice of Plastic Surgery

A blogger came by and left the following comment:

Our skin obsessed society is sick. Plastic surgeons only exasperate the problem. Isn't the job of doctor to do things that are medically necessary or prudent? Is giving some stupid celebrity bimbo bigger knockers medically necessary? Are people insecure little children that are nothing more than shallow materialists ? I guess so.

Brian

This is funny really as the poster clearly has very little idea of how the practice of plastic surgery works. Most medically-necessary plastic surgery is performed in my geographic region by doctors who do not have busy cosmetic practices. The reason is pretty simple: because your insurance company pays a plastic surgeon so poorly for it. Although I am sure the poster feels quite righteous in making his point, medically-necessary plastic surgery alone cannot keep a practice solvent. Cosmetic surgery is necessary to pay the bills. Most of us eventually do mostly cosmetic surgery, because we figure we should be able to live reasonably well for the years we took in training to get here.

Kirsten Dunst Doesn't Read My Blog

Popsugar

Popsugar features Kirsten Dunst pics today. Again she is smoking the cancer sticks. I guess she doesn't read my blog. Or like many smokers she thinks smoking may not contribute to an untimely death.

The cancer sticks are becoming more popular with young women and the studies show smoking related cancer death is on the rise. Maybe she feels lucky?

Kim Kardashian Bongo Jeans Girl?

Hollywood Tuna/Pics

Looking at Kim Kardashian's sizable posterior in Bongo Jeans makes me wonder what they are thinking in making her their Spokes-gal.

Kim's a pretty gal, but has a pretty large butt. Putting her in jeans seems to make that all the more obvious.

Weekend Miscellany Links

Online oddities for the weekend:

Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Retirement Home at From The Desk Of The Mayor - Could this guy sink Obama?

Mariah Carey Again at AttuWorld - The bottom line is that she looks pretty good for her age. People just need to chill out.

Was Megan Fox Hotter without Tattoo's in 2003? at Bastardly - Maybe not because she probably got her nose done since then. Better on the nasal tip.

Jordan still looks Big in the Implant dept at The Grumpiest - Maybe more surgery is in the works for her?

Man Boobs? at TMZ - These guys just got older and gained weight. These are not typical gynecomastia.

Beware Snake Oil Salesmen? - Daniel Serrano

TMZ

Beware snake oil salesmen like Daniel Serrano. Maybe the list of celebrities treated by this man like Priscilla Presley should have. Serrano was reportedly smooth with sweet talk and promises:

"Serrano, who was a doctor in Argentina but unlicensed in the U.S., told patients the serum, which he claimed would remove wrinkles, was much better than Botox -- an all-natural drug he said was used by all the top models in Paris"

Silicone gel injections are not natural. They do not do well. Qualified plastic surgeons will not offer them.
